About the event
Of course, while bourbon may be America’s native spirit, the raw material–maize, maíz, corn–had been around for thousands of years before European immigrants tried distilling it.
So the question is: what would a whiskey be like if it were made in the ancestral home of corn, using traditional production methods that have been lovingly passed from generation to generation for hundreds of years?
This is the question that Abasolo Whisky has attempted to answer. Distilled in Estado de Mexico from locally grown nixtamalized cacahuazintle corn (don’t worry–we’ll be practicing pronunciation at the event) before spending time in open-air aging warehouses for a true terroir experience, Abasolo offers something unexpected, unique, and distinctly Mexican.
In addition to learning all about their flagship whiskey, we’ll also be trying their decadent Nixta corn liqueur and discovering (and tasting) how wonderful they can be in a cocktail.
- It’s all happening on Thursday, 9/26 at 6:30 PM at Marie’s Tek Tec (Located inside Roxanne’s in Long Beach)
- Tickets are $44.50 per person
- In addition to the spirit tasting and cocktail, we’ll have light bites to keep your tummy happy
